VISTA - A NEW LABEL BLOG - Perdas De Fogu - Marcello Melis / Mario Schiano - 1974

It was a long time that I wanted to publish the albums of this small, obscure but great label.
Today, perhaps for the fact that he was an orphan of my CAROSELLO blog, I decided to inaugurate a new blog for the label VISTA and there could be no better start, with the great Mario Schiano and, unfortunately little known, Marcello Melis .

Now you go to my new blog,
I await your ...

Enrico Rava : El Convidado - 1975

Enrico Rava has always loved South America, not only because he lived there or why Graciela, his wife, was born in Argentina.
Maybe it's because in Buenos Aires he has recorded the visionary "The Forest and the Zoo" (1966) with Steve Lacy, Johnny Dyani and Louis Moholo, probably the album that has influenced all the european free jazz to come, or because he truly loved the work of Julio Cortazar, enough to dedicate to him, in paraphrase, the title of his first album as leader, or perhaps, again, because it was a Brazilian musician, the magnificent João Gilberto, who advised him to play only the notes needed, I don't know...

But one thing certain is that: the Latin soul, the darting melody, the bright and silvery reflection of his compositions, to remind me so much throughout the southern hemisphere.

In this recording, released exclusively for the Argentine market, Enrico Rava "El Milagro Italiano", he was invited by the Argentine jazz group AGA TAURA CONFAB, and the music recorded here, explains better than my useless talk ...

Gianluigi Trovesi & Conny Bauer - Secret Points - 1979

This record brings together two of the finest jazz musicians to come out of DDR and Italy or any countries, in a set of spontaneously created duets with great, sensitive interplay between the two.
Gianluigi, speaking italian only, and Conny couldn't talk very much to each other in words. In music, however, which can be an international language, their conversation was close and fast and full of wit.

Jam Session In Rome - 1959 - Trummy Young, "Peanuts" Hucko, Billy Kyle and the Roman New Orleans Jazz Band

The Story of this microgroove, recorded in Rome by three members of Louis Armstrong's last band, the "All Stars", with the Roman New Orleans Jazz Band, is very lively and seems to continue the tradition of the adventurous undertakings of the jazz music pioneers.

The eight pieces included in the record have been completely improvished during a long nocturnal recording session, which later became a jam session that continued until 10 o'clock next morning.

This happened in Rome, fifty years ago...
